One Million Youths Gathering 2012 Comes To A Close



PUTRAJAYA, May 27 (Bernama) -- The One Million Youths Gathering 2012 here comes to a close today after it began on Wednesday, with more programmes to be held to celebrate youths.

This includes a fishing competition officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek at the Water Recreation Centre, Precint 13 and the 7th International Ekiden Run flagged off by Parit Sulong Member of Parliament, Datuk Noraini Ahmad, in front of the Palace of Justice, Precint 3.

Ahmad Shabery will also open a bowling competition to be held at the ARL Power Bowl in Alamanda Putrajaya, Precint 16, while a Aerokbikthon contest at the Palace of Justice car park will be officiated by Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Datuk Heng Seai Kie.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will officiate the Food Valley/ Putrajaya Uptown located at the Persiaran Perdana car park, and Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister Senator Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz will launch the Warna-Warni Malaysia programme at Persiaran Perdana, Precint 2.

A closing and prize presentation ceremony for the futsal competition carried out at the 1Malaysia Futsal Complex in Precint 18, as well as the Extreme Sports Carnival at the Putrajaya Challenge Park, Precint 20, will be officiated by Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Datuk Razali Ibrahim and Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin, respectively.

Tonight, a Clash of The Bands competition will be launched by Ismail Sabri next to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry building.

Besides that, stalls set up in the area will still offer clothes, accessories and electronic goods and even discounts on the final day.

Held in conjunction with National Youth Day celebrations, the One Million Youth Gathering this year showcases 38 segments with some 500 activities for the country's youths.
